Job Coaching

Job coaching is individual one-to-one support with the job search, from analysing your potential through application documents and interview training to career planning. At IHQ Akademie in Berlin (AVGS measure 962/187/25) the coaching takes place on site only, in German, Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian, and is free of charge with an approved AVGS from the employment agency or the Jobcenter; German at least at level A2 is required.

Funded application coaching with an AVGS can only be offered by providers accredited under AZAV with an approved measure – in Berlin, for example, IHQ Akademie (AZAV reg. no. EPZ-25-15-T) with its job coaching, measure 962/187/25. It is personal one-to-one coaching on applications, CV, job interviews and career planning: on site in Berlin-Friedrichshain only, 40 to at most 160 teaching units (UE), in German, Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian, German at least at level A2, and free of charge for you with an approved AVGS from the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter. You can check any provider by its AZAV accreditation and its measure number; AVGS coachings with their numbers are listed in the Federal Employment Agency's coaching and activation search (web.arbeitsagentur.de/coachingundaktivierung), where you will also find our entry. You choose the provider yourself; if a provider is already named on your AVGS, redeem it there.

In practice the three terms mean the same thing: personal one-to-one support with application documents, CV and job interviews. IHQ Akademie has no separate “Bewerbercoaching” course — application work is a fixed part of two programmes. Job coaching is about the path into employment, vocational training coaching (Ausbildungscoaching) about applying for an apprenticeship. Both are AZAV-certified and free of charge for you with an AVGS from the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter. Which of the two suits you is clarified in the initial consultation.

Four, spread across three approved measures. Career: one-to-one job coaching — applications, CV, interviews, career planning, approved for up to 160 teaching units. Vocational training: vocational training coaching (Ausbildungscoaching) — one-to-one support on the way into an apprenticeship, from career orientation through applications and the search for a training place to the start of training. Both run under the same programme number, 962/187/25 (“Bewerbungs- & Integrationscoaching”, AVGS), on site in Berlin only. Business: start-up coaching — business plan, financial and marketing planning, online via live video and available across Germany unless the AVGS is restricted to a region, programme number 962/189/25, up to 80 teaching units. Personal situation: social coaching under § 16k SGB II — stabilising housing, debt, health and dealings with authorities, sanction-free, funded through the Jobcenter rather than an AVGS. Which measure is approved is decided by your placement officer, not by us. The AVGS numbers 962/187/25 and 962/189/25 are listed in the Federal Employment Agency's coaching and activation search; provider accreditation AZAV reg. no. EPZ-25-15-T, provider no. 306822.

The Jobcoaching is 100% free for you if you have an approved AVGS (Activation and Placement Voucher) from the Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter. IHQ Akademie is an AZAV-approved provider (Reg.-No. EPZ-25-15-T), the job coaching is approved as measure 962/187/25, and we bill the funding agency directly. No costs for you.

The Jobcoaching consists of four modules of 40 UE each. Depending on how many modules your AVGS covers, that is 40, 80, 120 or at most 160 UE; how many are granted is decided by your employment adviser. The exact duration is discussed in the free initial consultation. The sessions are spread over several weeks.

How long your AVGS is valid is printed on the voucher itself: § 45 Abs. 4 SGB III allows it to be limited in time and by region; there is no uniform period. The Jobcoaching must start within this period, but it does not have to be finished by then. At IHQ Akademie (measure 962/187/25) it only begins after approval.

The Jobcoaching takes place at our two locations in Berlin-Friedrichshain: Scharnweberstraße 23 and Markgrafendamm 24/Haus 16. The free on-site initial consultation takes place at our advice centre, Markgrafendamm 24/Haus 16, 10245 Berlin. All sessions take place on site; job coaching is not available by video.

No, the job coaching of IHQ Akademie (measure 962/187/25) takes place on site in Berlin-Friedrichshain only; there are no video sessions, and the initial consultation is held on site too. The only coaching we offer online via live video is start-up coaching (measure 962/189/25, with an AVGS, across Germany unless your AVGS is restricted to a region, in German, German at least at level A2) – it is aimed at job seekers who want to become self-employed, not at the job search.

You apply for the AVGS yourself with your placement officer (Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter); it is a discretionary benefit (Ermessensleistung) under § 45 SGB III. Name measure 962/187/25 (“Bewerbungs- & Integrationscoaching”) of IHQ Akademie; on request we give you a written offer with all the details to take along. The coaching only starts once the AVGS has been approved.

The job coaching runs in four steps: a free initial consultation on site, your own AVGS application, approval, then the one-to-one sessions. The initial consultation takes 45 minutes and is held at our advice centre at Markgrafendamm 24/Haus 16; there we clarify your goal and the right scope. You then apply for the AVGS with your placement officer, naming measure 962/187/25; on request we give you a written offer to take along. Your placement officer decides, and we do not start before approval. After that you work one-to-one with your coach in modules of 40 teaching units on your documents, applications and interviews, and receive a certificate of attendance at the end. There are no fixed start dates. There is no job guarantee; we will quote figures on how many participants start work only once reliable ones are available. Suitable funded coachings can be found in the Federal Employment Agency's coaching and activation search.

The coaching is available in German, Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian. If it is held in German, we speak slowly and clearly, explain technical terms and take our time – even if German is not your first language. Job coaching is not available in English or Spanish; we speak English in consultations and in social coaching under § 16k SGB II. For the job coaching, whatever the coaching language, German at least at level A2 is required.

You need German at least at level A2; this is an admission requirement of measure 962/187/25. It also applies if your coaching takes place in Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian: the language of the coaching is not the same as the requirement. Perfect German is not necessary. If your German is still below A2, a German course is the first step; we do not offer a language course of our own.

Yes: IHQ Akademie offers its job coaching (measure 962/187/25) one-to-one in Ukrainian or Russian as well, on site in Berlin-Friedrichshain only and free of charge for you with an approved AVGS from the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter. German at least at level A2 is required. If you receive Grundsicherungsgeld (formerly Bürgergeld), you apply for the AVGS yourself with your placement officer at the Jobcenter.

Yes, the job coaching supports you when changing jobs and applying for a new position just as much as when returning to work (e.g. after parental leave, illness or migration), changing careers or entering a new field – provided you are registered as a job seeker with the Agentur für Arbeit or receive Grundsicherungsgeld from the Jobcenter and your AVGS is approved. We help you reposition your strengths and find the right next step for your career. This applies after a very long break as well: several years without employment are not a reason for exclusion. The larger the gap, the more two things matter — an explanation for the CV that holds up in the interview, and a realistic first step back rather than applying for your former position. We work out both together.

Partly — and you should know where the line runs before enrolling. We do not offer a standalone language course. The coaching itself is available in German, Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian; if it is held in German, we speak slowly, explain technical terms and work at your pace. Three things come in addition. First, you can reach and consult us in five languages — German, Arabic, Persian (Farsi), Ukrainian and English. Social coaching under § 16k SGB II is delivered entirely in all five. Second, subject-specific German is built into the training courses rather than sold separately: the § 34a GewO security course contains 132 teaching units of technical German using the CLIL method; you start at level A2 and the language level grows to B1+ alongside the subject matter. Third, for foreign qualifications we help you prepare the recognition process — documents, the responsible authority, the procedure. The decision itself is not ours. This does not apply to nursing and care professions; for these, the recognition counselling services (Anerkennungsberatung) advise free of charge, for example in the IQ programme (Integration durch Qualifizierung). You do not need perfect German; for the job coaching, however, German at least at level A2 is required (an admission requirement of measure 962/187/25), even if it takes place in Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian.

We actively support your job search; we do not place people in jobs. The measure's official name is “Bewerbungs- & Integrationscoaching” (applications and integration coaching), programme number 962/187/25. In practice that means four things. We look for suitable vacancies together with you, including on the hidden job market — speculative applications and direct approaches, not just job portals. We work closely with Jobcentres and employment agencies; placement officers have named contacts and receive progress documentation on the measure. Support does not stop once you have an offer: follow-up on further applications and advice during the probationary period are possible, depending on the scope approved in your AVGS. And in the training courses, contact with employers is a fixed component — the twelve-month IT course (962/128/2026) includes two months of work placement in a real company, not as an add-on but as part of the course. We give no job guarantee, and no reputable provider may. Whether you get a job is decided by the employer; we help you to be well prepared for it.

Yes. The AVGS is tied to your labour-market situation, not to your degree — having studied does not rule out funding, and a subject that is little in demand is no obstacle. The coaching then addresses three questions. First, what from your studies transfers? Research, project management, data analysis, writing and delivering technical presentations — these are competencies that job adverts name differently from your certificate. We translate them into the language of the advert. Second, which additional building block makes the biggest difference? Often a certified specialist qualification rather than a second degree — for example the twelve-month IT administrator course (IT-Administrator/in, AI-supported administration, programme number 962/128/2026) with preparation for LPIC-1, Cisco CCNA and either ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) or CompTIA Security+, cyber security included – 10 months of live online instruction plus 2 months of work placement in a company, German from level B1 – or the IHK examination of competence under § 34a GewO. Third, how do you explain the change? The break in the CV is the most frequent interview question. We rehearse the answer until it holds. The job coaching itself is free with an AVGS; the two training courses are funded with an education voucher (Bildungsgutschein) from the Agentur für Arbeit.

Through a recognised qualification, not through years on the job alone — that is exactly where unskilled roles usually stall. Two funded routes that start without prior qualifications. In the security sector, the IHK examination of competence under § 34a GewO takes you from mere instruction, which is only 40 hours of attendance, to certified competence. Only that permits activities such as patrols in public spaces, protection against shoplifting and door supervision at clubs — and it is a precondition if you later want to register your own security business. The preparatory course runs online, with 132 teaching units of integrated technical German, entry from language level A2. In IT, the twelve-month IT administrator course (IT-Administrator/in, AI-supported administration, programme number 962/128/2026) prepares you without prior IT knowledge for the certificates LPIC-1, Cisco CCNA and either ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) or CompTIA Security+, cyber security included, with ten months of live online instruction and two months of work placement in a company; German from level B1 is required. Both are 100 % fundable with an education voucher from the Agentur für Arbeit. Which route suits you, and how the application works, is clarified beforehand in the job coaching.

There are two separate steps that are often confused. First, recognition of your qualification — and we support you with it: we work out together which authority is responsible, which documents it requires and in what order to proceed, and we accompany you through the procedure. The decision itself is made by that authority, not by the academy. University degrees are assessed by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB); whether your degree is already classified can be checked in the anabin database. The professional title “Ingenieur” is protected in Germany and is conferred by the chamber of engineers of the respective federal state, not by an employer. Second, the application — this is where job coaching comes in. In practice it rarely fails on technical expertise, but on three points: the CV is not structured according to German convention, project experience stays invisible in the wording, and in the interview there is no clear answer to the question about the status of recognition. That is exactly what we practise, in German, Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian and at your pace, free of charge with an approved AVGS from the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter. One important point up front: a pending or missing recognition does not automatically block your application. Engineering work is largely not a regulated profession — what is protected is the use of the title, not the practice. What applies in your case is clarified in the free initial consultation.

Any provider can claim to be “known for” something; what can be verified is a different matter. Four things you can check yourself with any provider: the AZAV accreditation with its registration number, the programme number in the Federal Employment Agency's portal, a public review profile including the number and time span of the reviews, and whether any figures are given at all rather than just adjectives.
