vocational training

Apprenticeship coaching is individual one-to-one support on the way into vocational training: career orientation, application training, interview preparation and help with finding an internship and an apprenticeship place. IHQ Akademie (AZAV-accredited provider, Reg.-Nr. EPZ-25-15-T) offers it as AVGS measure 962/187/25 under § 45 SGB III: on site in Berlin-Friedrichshain only, in German, Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian, with German skills at least at level A2, and free of charge with an approved AVGS from the Federal Employment Agency or the Jobcenter.

With an approved AVGS (Activation and Placement Voucher) from the Employment Agency or Jobcenter, the apprenticeship coaching is 100% free for you. IHQ Akademie is accredited under the AZAV (Reg.-Nr. EPZ-25-15-T) and bills the funding body directly.

Not the apprenticeship itself: the AVGS pays for coaching on the way there – career orientation, applications and the search for an apprenticeship place (§ 45 SGB III). A company-based (dual) apprenticeship costs you nothing; the company pays you a training allowance (Ausbildungsvergütung). For retraining or further training there is the education voucher (Bildungsgutschein) from the Agentur für Arbeit (§ 81 SGB III). At IHQ Akademie, the apprenticeship coaching is free of charge for you as measure 962/187/25 with an approved AVGS.

You can get an AVGS under § 45 SGB III if you are registered with the Agentur für Arbeit as looking for an apprenticeship or for work – even without receiving benefits – or receive Grundsicherungsgeld (formerly Bürgergeld) from the Jobcenter, and there is an integration need. There is no legal right to it; your employment adviser decides. For apprenticeship coaching at IHQ Akademie you also need to live in Berlin or the surrounding area (or have your responsible office there) and speak German at least at level A2.

The apprenticeship coaching comprises 40, 80, 120 or at most 160 UE (1 UE = 45 minutes), in up to four modules of 40 UE each. Your employment adviser decides how many modules your AVGS covers. We will discuss the exact duration in a free initial meeting.

On site in Berlin-Friedrichshain only – there are no video sessions in the apprenticeship coaching: Scharnweberstraße 23 and Markgrafendamm 24/Haus 16. The free initial consultation takes place on site at our advice centre, Markgrafendamm 24/Haus 16, 10245 Berlin. Of IHQ Akademie's coaching programmes, only the start-up coaching runs online.

You apply for the AVGS yourself with your employment adviser (Vermittlungsfachkraft) at the Agentur für Arbeit or the Jobcenter; it is a discretionary benefit under § 45 SGB III. Name measure 962/187/25 (“Bewerbungs- & Integrationscoaching”) of IHQ Akademie; on request we will give you a written offer with all the details to take along. The coaching only begins after approval.

With an AZAV-accredited provider that has a suitable approved measure – in Berlin, for example, at IHQ Akademie with the apprenticeship coaching (measure 962/187/25), on site in Friedrichshain. If a provider is already named on your AVGS, redeem it there. You can find all approved AVGS coaching programmes in the coaching search of the Federal Employment Agency (web.arbeitsagentur.de/coachingundaktivierung), not in mein NOW – that portal lists further training with an education voucher (Bildungsgutschein).

The coaching is available in German, Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian. If it is held in German, we speak slowly and clearly, explain technical terms and take our time – even if German is not your first language.

You need German skills at least at level A2; this is an admission requirement of measure 962/187/25. This also applies if the coaching takes place in Arabic, Persian, Russian or Ukrainian.

Apprenticeship coaching focuses on choosing a career, internships and finding an apprenticeship place; job coaching focuses on applying for a job. Both belong to the same approved AVGS measure 962/187/25 “Bewerbungs- & Integrationscoaching” of IHQ Akademie; this is the name under which it appears in the coaching search of the Federal Employment Agency.

Career orientation and choice, application documents (CV, cover letter), interview training, self-organization and motivation, support in finding an apprenticeship, and support in the first weeks after the apprenticeship starts, depending on the approved AVGS scope. All tailored to your individual situation.

No – no provider can guarantee an apprenticeship place; the decision is made by the training company (Ausbildungsbetrieb). In the apprenticeship coaching at IHQ Akademie (measure 962/187/25) we actively look for apprenticeship and internship places with you, support your applications and prepare you for interviews and trial work.

For teenagers and young adults seeking an apprenticeship or preparing to start their training, especially school leavers, people with a migration background, and all those who want to find a suitable apprenticeship in Berlin.

Ideally, bring your AVGS (if already available), your previous CV or school certificates, and all documents from the Jobcenter or the Employment Agency. If you don't have an AVGS yet, we will explain how to apply for it and, on request, give you a written offer for your employment adviser.

Yes, in the first weeks after the apprenticeship starts, depending on the approved AVGS scope: with organisation, vocational school and questions about funding. The goal of the apprenticeship coaching (measure 962/187/25) is the path into an apprenticeship, not preparation for the final apprenticeship exam.

Yes, we actively support you in finding and applying for internships, which can serve as important door-openers to vocational training. A successfully completed internship often opens the direct path to an apprenticeship, especially for school leavers and career changers.

AVGS is a discretionary benefit of the Employment Agency or Jobcenter, you do not have an automatic legal right to it. Your caseworker decides on a case-by-case basis whether coaching makes sense for your integration needs. Practical tip: The approval chance increases significantly if you specifically argue why apprenticeship coaching is important for your career start. We support you with this argumentation in the free initial consultation.

How long your AVGS is valid is printed on the voucher itself: § 45 Abs. 4 SGB III allows it to be limited in time and by region. The coaching must start within this period, but it does not have to be finished by then; apprenticeship coaching at IHQ Akademie only begins after approval, and there are no fixed start dates.
